No one cares what you have to say. Get off the app, Grandpa, and touch some grass.
Our city's online forums are plagued by know-it-alls whose opinions ceased to be relevant once the clock ticked over to the year 2000.
I think it's high time we added an age limit to Facebook and locked out the computers at the retirement villages to save us from the cries of "this generation don't work," "young people are doomed," and my personal favourite; "These kids spend all day on their phones" while Janet is typing this comment (her 37th of the night) at 11:45 PM Tuesday when she has a big morning of shopping and coffee with "the girlfriends" at 10:30.
There has recently been a rebellion against the geriatric members of Palmerston North's online community, with many users reporting the use of the famous one-liner "Farrrr cup". I personally think we should let them speak and embarrass themselves. There comes a time in every generation when one stops caring about the world, barely knows what happens in their household/village, and letting them embarrass themselves in front of over 100,000 people may be the last memorable thing they do. This doesn't mean we should care; it just means we shouldn't acknowledge the colonial racist remarks such as "IT'S MT EGMONT AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN". Calm down, Gary, and keep up with the times.
Now I have leaned into the idea that it is mostly our most senior of citizens that are touched by this issue, but I would like to take a moment to say that it is not the case. Our great city is home to some of the stupidest 19-year-old losers whose biggest achievement is not getting wiped out by a s***box car at the skids.
We all see you and hear you. Reluctantly. I think it is wise to say that some of these people will go into prison and come out 34% changed, which seems to be sufficient in the streets of our great metropolis.
